The angel Gabriel from heaven came,
His wings as bright as snow, his eyes aflame;
He said to Mary, "You are called to be God’s own,
O highly favored lady." Gloria!

"For God wants you to bear a holy child,
Who will grow up to be both just and mild,
And through him God will give to all eternal life.
O highly favored lady." Gloria!

Then Mary smiled with joy and bowed her head,
"I will do gladly what God wills," she said.
"And I will praise God for the gifts of life and love."
O highly favored lady. Gloria!

And so to Mary, Jesus Christ was born.
In Bethlehem she held him close that morn.
On Christmas we remember Jesus, and Mary.
