Maps of Greater Jerusalem

The purple line represents "Greater Jerusalem" as estimated based on the Israeli government's policies at the end of 2004.  The brown areas are Palestinian communities.  The darker blue areas are existing Israeli settlements, and the lighter blue areas are planned settlements.  Notice the extension to the East of the planned settlement area.  The darker brown area close to the green line on the right is the city of Jericho.

The yellow line represents municipal Jerusalem, and the red line metropolitan Jerusalem.  Bethlehem is just outside municipal and greater Jerusalem to the South, and Ramallah is just outside municipal and greater Jerusalem to the North.

The map is available through the Israel Committee Against House Demolitions (http://www.icahd.org/eng), which has its headquarters in West Jerusalem.  It is reproduced here with less clarity than when printed in order to decrease the loading time for access online.

This map is the most up to date released by the government.  The area extending to the East from East Jerusalem has been slightly reduced, but continues to reach half way to Jericho.  The border of the West Bank, or what is called the Green Line, is on the left side of the drawing.  The Separation Barrier clearly extends into Palestinian areas both to surround Israeli settlements and to isolate nearby Palestinian communities.
